Dear Friends and well wishers

I am extremely happy to inform you that Educare Institute of Dental Sciences has emerged as one of the top notch colleges in academic achievements amongst the dental sciences studies in the state. The Institute had maintained a winning streak of bagging top ranks in the BDS examinations conducted by the University of Calicut for the second year in succession. It may be recalled that we had bagged the top three positions in the University Examination held last year. In this year, wehave bagged the top 2 positions in the second year examinations and top 4 in the first five positions in the first year BDS examinations. The second batch of the students has done extremely well by grabbing as many as 7 top positions in the first ten of the University Examinations. The batch hasbolstered the achievement further with 23 distinctionsand 20 first classes.       
       
The consistent performance in university examinations is one step forward in our efforts in emerging as a world class centre of excellence for dental studies and practices. I take this opportunity to felicitate the students, the faculty and the other support staff whose untiring efforts made it possible to make such an achievement.

A qualified faculty with commitment and dedication is the backbone of any institution of higher learning education and I take thisopportunity to salute the teachers and other supporting staff of this Institute for their excellent efforts in inculcating the sense of academic excellence amongst the students.  

I am also proud to announce here that Prof. Vijaya Kumar, one of our faculty members, has been bestowed upon the ‘Tharanath ShettyMemorial Oration Award’ for his outstanding achievements in the field of Bio Chemistry by the Association of Clinical Bio Chemist of India.

The number of patients visiting the dental clinic affiliated with the Institute has attained a critical mass during the last three years providing the students an opportunity to learn, observeand develop professional skills. The 150-bedded hospital coming up in the campus will further enhance the opportunities for the students to shore up their professional abilities.    

Community dentistry is a specialized branch of dentistry, which deals with educating the public through health education, prevention, and control of dental diseases and promotion of dental health. The objectives of community dentistry are to motivate the publicto change their behavior and planning for the prevention and control ofdental diseases. Considering the importance of community dentistry and as part of our commitment to the society we have adopted ‘Kodur Panchayath’ to make it a ‘Dental Carrie Free Panchayath’.  We have also been regularly conducting dental camps in the district.

We believe that the students require overall development. They need to be improved in all aspects of their personality. Our students also participated in ‘Diksha’ a cultural progamme held at Calicut University campus. We also conducted several awareness seminars  regarding AIDS, Legal Awareness and Anti Ragging among others.

The management has introduced a regular English spoken andwritten language programme for the students to enhance their linguisticabilities. The management is also organizing several programmes to enhance and develop life-skills.

The efforts to make Educare as one of the ‘greenest campuses’ is progressing in right earnest. The preliminary work for planting 70 fresh saplings ahead of the coming monsoon season is alreadyover.

I have mentioned some of the key developments that have taken place in the campus in the recent past. I wanted to reiterate thatwe need to keep improving every day and I hope the students, the faculty and other supporting staff will do their best to bring further laurels to the Institute in the coming years. I also take this opportunity to give a hearty welcome to the new batch of students who joined us in the new academic year.
